Above and beyond

I've been commentating at the Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool today in the most awful weather....

I ran a lap first thing so I was done and showered before the athletes arrived.

It wasn't too bad at 7am but the wind even then slowed me considerably.

By race time we also had rain to contend with.

Both wind and rain grew in strength as the day proceeded, rendering athletes, helpers, volunteers, spectators and commentator colder and colder!

Everyone involved deserved all the plaudits they have received on various social media since the race.

We have all now returned to our homes, most will have had the heating turned high in their cars and will probably have done the same as me: headed for a warm bath and bed to thaw out!
