A Sunday Inside

Loads of stuff to do at the computer, not all boring for once at least, so the need to take care of my immune system combined with the day's worsening weather meant I was happy enough to be housebound - bar a very short excursion into town to grab someone for a portrait! I was so absorbed with work this morning that I completely spaced the fact it was the Ilkley Moor Fell Race, once the highlight of my racing calendar. Somehow I had it in my head that it was next weekend. It wasn't until I saw a long trail of runners heading up to the Cow and Calf that it dawned on me. I feel sad that another year has gone by without me being able to race. Next year will have to be different. Although I had time to get out to see the finish I didn't feel like facing the reality of witnessing people do what I so love to be doing but cannot at the moment. And I was on a bit of a roll anyway with the software. It's actually been a good day.

Diva the cat, however, wasn't in a good mood. She doesn't go out much these days. Usually just once a day she whines at the door to be let out but invariably reappears a few minutes later whining to be let back in again. Just before bed it wanted out so I gave her its wish, went upstairs to brush my teeth, intending to come back down and open the door for her - only to completely forget. I came down this morning to the most pathetic, plaintive yowling at the door that I've ever heard. It was a cold night. She was so pissed with me! She pretty much ignores me at the best of times, but today she's not looked me in the eye at all!!
