Little Pines

Even though we had some rain today, the clouds went away and the temperature climbed to WARM short sleeve weather!  So we went for a drive to a state park near Camden and had a nice three mile hike..no bugs, no sweat, and no rain. Good timing on our part for a day out of the house. The woods were scented with pine sap as many limbs were down from the icy rain we had a few days ago. One of the limbs had these tiny pine cone seedlings.  These longleaf pines are very tall so normally we don't get up close to see this part of the growth.  This lovely blue seed cone will not make a plain old brown pine cone.  Sometimes Nature just gives you a gift.
