Birch's

Birch's hardware shop - properly C.R. Birch & Son - a local landmark and much loved for being very much the epitome of the old fashioned hardware shop, with a bewilderingly wide range of goods on offer, including lots of drawers of screws, washers, and almost anything else, and the kind of customer service you don't find very often now either. It was therefore particularly sad when the owners announced that they would be closing at the end of 2014 - the shop is open still, but in the process of selling off the remaining stock.
