Feeling the cold
Based on a thermoscope invented by Galileo Galilei in the early 1600s, this is a Galileo thermometer. It's a sealed glass tube filled with water and glass spheres filled with coloured liquid. Attached to each sphere is a calibrated metal tag, indicating temperature. The weight of each tag is slightly different from the others. The sphere that sinks the most indicates the approximate current temperature. I'm not sure it's accurate but it does look nice and as it's getting late with no blip, this is today's offering. Ours says cold, cold, cold.
