A Loon

A rare migrating bird that I have not seen before. This might be either a nonbreeding adult of the red-throated kind (only the breeding adults have the red throat)  with his white face and chest, red eyes and dark speckled upper body. It is about 25 inches long, maybe more. The beak alone seemed nearly 4 inches long. Or it is the Yellow-billed loon.
Late afternoon walk that made Maggie come home with a tick right on her eyebrow - inspite of me giving her the anti --flee and -tick medicine this morning. I do not like these little insects...
