Spied This, Couldn't Find It On The Web
Bit of sunshine today. I decided to take just my macro lens down the field with Jazzy dog after I had groomed her, leaving lots of lovely fluff for the birdies' nests.
I find that I need to get into the macro zone, it's very difficult trying to look out for macro and long shots at the same time. I was very surprised not to find green shieldbugs in their bronze winter jackets on the ivy. However the jumping spiders that I have posted fairly recently were out in force on the south-facing number thirteen wall. I couldn't spot any of their prey.
My pic is of a tiny spider that I found amongst the moss at the base of the wall. It was perfectly camouflaged and played dead. I think it might be a diminutive member of the orb weaving family. Its shape and the patterns on its abdomen fit. The nearest I can find to it is Larinoides cornutus but my spider is much smaller I think.
