We were at church today, as were almost all the six-years-old children in our village. It was the spring festivity of the church children club.

Notice the horizontal traces on the altarpiece. They date from the Winter War (between Finland and the Soviet Union 1939-1940). The altarpiece was evacuated in a hurry, and it was removed from the frame and wrapped as a roll. After the war the local people wanted it not to be retouched.
