How GMD came about

So, over the next few days, we talked more about ourselves....shared ore, and laughed more.
We talked so much about bikes, and the British Super Bikes (BSB), World Super Bikes (WSB) and MotoGP.  I obviously have to admit that he knew wayyyyy more than I, but because he was so interested in it, and spoke with such passion .... it was contagious. The sense of speed, which made it dangerous - that's what appealed to me - it was something I had never come close to.....but I was entering into this world, with Andy....and I was hooked.  Desperately so.  Andy had found a video on the internet (what we would call YouTube now) about a man who raced around Sweden, and was chased by the police.......he went by the name of Ghost Rider.  He sent me a link to a video clip - and man but did I think it was thrilling.  I could never imagine doing something that would get me into trouble with the police......but watching someone else 'play' with being close to getting thrown into a cell for riding so fast.......but if I were being honest - he was NEVER close to that happening - he was always way too far ahead.  I realised when I watched it, I held my breath!
G = GHOST
I have told you about the fact he was a glass maker, and that in the process of making glass, he would blow into a tube to make what is known as a 'muff' shape.
M = MUFF
Andy used to dive, as a hobby.  He said he'd been off the coast of Scotland numerous times.....so yet another thing that fascinated me.  I've seen people do this, and whilst it looks all amazing and colourful when people do it in tropical places, I couldn't help but agree and understand that the most intriguing would be in places like the costs of Scotland - there was so much history here.
D = DIVER

And so, he nickname GMD came about.  I used to think up other words to match the acronym too, but these three words we the originals.
Over the years, Andy used to sign off all the little romantic things he sent to me as "Registered trade mark of GMD Industries"
He had such a wacky side to him.....playful, funny and just downright intoxicating.

He planned our next date....
