A LITTLE PRICKLY.....
…..and I don’t just mean the teasel! My knee issue has been going on now for 5 months and is beginning to get me down. I have also had a stiff neck and a sore shoulder and arm for a few days, probably because my posture is all wrong and my body is fighting back. Add to that the fact that I am not sleeping at all well, and yes, you guessed, it’s me that’s feeling a little prickly.
When I got up this morning, Mr. HCB could see I was not my usual perky self, so suggested we go out to Hengistbury Head, go for a short walk and then call into the cafe for coffee and cake. I wasn’t that keen, but he insisted, so off we went.
After the cold wind we have had for the last few days, it was much warmer, the sun was shining and we had a lovely time - Mr. HCB was happy because he saw several birds - teal, widgeon, redshank, lapwing, cormorant - and when we got back to the cafe, we saw a lovely little dunnock, which sat on the fence and sang for us.
How could I still be prickly after seeing all those? While we were having our coffee and cake, my friend Linda rang, because she was worried about me, which was so sweet of her and made me feel better. Then we chatted to a man who had been on crutches since he had broken his femur over two years ago and had had complications - isn’t it true that you can always look around and see someone worse off then yourself?
So we are back at the apartment, the sun is shining and I am feeling much better - for those who don’t know, I am hoping to have an arthroscopy on my right knee at the end of March, so hopefully I won’t be so prickly after that. I must say that Mr. HCB has been wonderful and is a real tonic - he keeps me going, cheers me up and I’m so glad he insisted we went out today. When we got back, he said it was good to see me smiling again - didn’t realise I had been THAT bad! Here is one of my favourite singers, Steven Curtis Chapman, singing His Strength is Perfect when Our Strength is Gone.
God says:
“My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:19

Thank you for all your comments and stars yesterday - sorry I didn't get round to responding to them all - maybe the prickly-ness was coming on yesterday!
