St Mary's College, University of Durham

Durham University is the only UK university operating the "college" system where 21 meals per week are provided to those living in the college. Oxford and Cambridge operate something similar though they extend the system to have lectures also held within each separate college.

Students live and eat together and each college has its own staff, gym and even chapel. 

The university has 17 colleges all slightly different catering to the needs of a wide range of students. 

To come to Durham and stay in a college is expensive and it's definitely a very good example of the "old boys" network. I'm sure friendships built here last for life and prove mutually useful to those who studied together. 

I do have to say that I absolutely loved visiting. I would have loved to have spent my student life in one of these colleges - no doubt about it!
