Mains of Claverhouse - derelict Pub
A bright, sunny day with strong, chill breeze.
We went for lunch with our Granddaughter to our Church Cafe. Rachel is making steady progress, for which we are thankful.
Afterwards, we went to the Trottick Ponds but nearby is the derelict shell of the Mains of Claverhouse Pub. This building was originally built as a home for the manager of the old Claverhouse Bleach Works, but the Victorian-era property has changed hands numerous times over the decades.
It was notorious in that it was the focus of national attention after an armed robbery by a paramilitary group in 2003. It also suffered a fire which gutted it in 2011. There have been plans to convert it into flats but, so far, nothing has come of this.
Tonight, we plan to go to the Cinema to see the follow up to Best Marigold Hotel. Hopefully, it will be as good as the first film.
