Calne (Friday 20th February 2015)

Having had a brief look at the Calne dippers the previous week, I went back to the same stretch of the river on Friday in hope of a better or closer look. Unfortunately, as it had rained heavily all the previous day, the river level was much higher and was rushing swiftly over the tops of the stones that had shown signs of the dippers.

Unsurprisingly, there was no sign of dippers or any other bird, either on the river or in the high skies. I walked up to the A4 and back and photographed the sheep, the snowdrops and the lichens and mosses on the tree trunks.
