Gently down the stream

Out to lunch

No, just for once I'm not joking (though those of you who know me will realise I'm frequently out to lunch in all the wrong ways)!

This is Jewry St in Winchester.  From the name I'm guessing that a lot of business used to be done up here.  The street housed the old Corn Exchange, now the library (pardon me, 'Discovery Centre', honestly where do they get these names) and the County Gaol was up here too.  In the 21st century it's just a place to have lunch.  Here you can see Brasserie Blanc, Loch Fyne fish restaurant and Prezzo pizza/pasta, but on this side of the fairly short street there's also a steak house, theatre bar, 2 other pubs/bars, a burger place (or has that changed?), 2 Chinese restaurants and others I've forgotten the names of.  I met an ex-work friend at Mr So's (one of the Chinese places).  It was a very good lunch!

Anyway, back to this blip.  I have a load of old postcards of Winchester landmarks on my desk and so decided to try and get something of the same effect here, which is why the blip is slightly sepia.  I was quite pleased with the fade at the left side of the image, looks authentic to me.  Finally, I added in bad writing the name of the street (all the Winchester postcards I own have bad writing) .

Hoho!  Enjoy your evening  xx
