whopper
London: it's full of odd wee corners, including the Temple Church. I'd heard of it but had no idea it was so close to the office so it was a bit of surprise to pass a sign on Fleet Street one day advertising Wednesday Organ Recitals.
I finally got around to going along today. Amazing building, great recital. Robert Gower playing Salutatio Episcopalis (Francis Jackson), The Immovable Do (Percy Grainger) and Plymouth Suite (Percy Whitlock).
The Grainger piece has a constant C throughout (if you follow the link you'll see some weights being put on).
The recital series is clearly meant for organ nerds (and I mean that in a positive sense): the back of the flyer is a list of the organ pipes that make up the Harrison & Harrison organ. In combination with the building and acoustics it sounds incredible.
