29th & 30th August '04 - The Haywain
When we arrived at the Haywain after the day at the racing, I was still buzzin from him turning around in the car park (slow control) with such ease and accuracy. In reception I remember seeing the painting (named the Haywain). It reminded me of when I was growing up, as my Mum & Dad had a large print of it in our living room. I stood and looked at it for ages - somehow it just made me feel comfortable....that image from my childhood. The print is actually in a cupboard in my house now, as it's too 'dated' for my livingroom now (replaced by a large LCD telly!!!).
When we went to the room, we were talking and laughing, and I had no idea if it were just me who had butterflies in my tummy. I went into the bathroom (my God was it chilly in there - no radiator or anything, but lots of spiders) and got changed into my nightie, and brushed my teeth. When I came out, Andy went it. I got into the double bed....and sat there with the same feeling as when I had exams at school, and just before I sat my driving test.....what was I doing!!!
Then the bathroom door opened, and Andy......in what I came to know was his usual playful self - sticks his leg around the door and slides it up and down......saying "well, hello there"
It just broke the tension and we were laughing again........this man always made me laugh. He was just so creative, funny, witty and downright playful.
He got into the bed beside me in his boxers, and put his arm up for me to cuddle into him. The night, that first night........I do not have words for how completely and utterly happy I felt.
We talked for such a long time.....he talked about his ex-partner, his children, his jobs (past as in glass and present as in production line), bikes, his grandparents, his Mum (and it was evident how much admiration he has for her), his siblings (esp Jane who must be as nuts as he is), school, wearing glasses, his best mate Denis............I could go on......I was like a never-ending sponge - I soaked it all up and enjoyed every second of it.........we hardly slept.
