I saw a Yellow Admiral butterfly!
I’ve seen lots of Monarch butterflies, and once managed to capture one when we visited New Zealand for the first time in 2009, but since then they rarely settle long enough to get a shot.
Well this smaller fella turned up at lunchtime, and settled momentarily on the mulch in our garden - I rushed grabbed my camera and took a zoomed shot from distance. I then tried tried to get a better shot much closer, but off it went before I had the chance.
I was pleasantly surprised my quick shot from distance could be enlarged and cropped without losing too much quality. :)
Did some research and discovered it’s a Yellow Admiral!
