Down by the river
A short walk on the Sett Valley trail from Birch Vale this afternoon.
Trees had been pruned and felled all over the area most striking this one down at the rivers edge - the colour looked enhanced even in rather dull light.
A few signs of spring and plenty of birds around including a Sparrowhawk overhead. After it had gone a very noisy mixed flock of birds were feeding high in the tree canopy they included a number of Goldfinches and Long tailed-tits.
The Sett Valley Cafe on the opposite side of the road(see map) was closed - I see its open 10-4 on weekends
