Charlie Brown
Cal and I went to That London for adventures today. We hit the Science Museum and they do a decent job but I still think that the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester is better :-) I don't know where the time went but we didn't visit everything but were inside for five hours and then we were hungry.
Tube to Leicester Square and round to Spaghetti House - it's been a favourite of mine forever so it was smashing having a pizza and bread and oil and people-watching. We walked back through Leicester Square and watched some street performers before stumbling across M&M's World. Four floors of M&M merchandising - just walking in I felt my blood-sugar soar.
Then a stroll down to Piccadilly Circus to see Eros and on to Trafalgar Square where we watched the sun go down. Finally we headed through Admiralty Arch, which Cal thought was great, and down The Mall which was bedecked with Mexican flags. I guess Her Britannic Majesty must have ordered in some nachos and fajitas for her Friday takeaway. We got to Victoria just as our train was called so that was a result. The train was stiflingly hot so as it crawled through the suburbs and out to Kent a good few were dozing off.
The shot is Charlie Brown; the command module of Apollo 10. This flight was the final rehearsal for the lunar landing and the lunar module, Snoopy was piloted by Stafford and Cernan. Their mission include a fly-by of Mare Tranquillitatis which is where Neil Armstrong landed Apollo 11. Charlie Brown splashed down on May 26th, 1969 - just shy of two months before Armstrong's small step.
A day away from the PC and it was wonderful.
