Yes, we were jolted this afternoon. Enough.

I was hoping if we had to have something sizable it would deal to the Cathedral once and for all and put an end to this save the Cathedral nonsense. It's a wreck that shouldn't continue to put lives at risk.

Maybe I missed something about the latest expert claiming he can restore it. That would be the bit about experience with stone buildings that have sustained previously unrecorded seismic forces in a built up area anywhere in the world, forces 150 times the current building code.

That would be experience restoring Cathedrals where the water table is so close those who built it couldn't include the crypt Cathedrals always have.

As long as there are people in my city who struggle to deal with their reality every day, who live in houses where the liquifaction under the floor boards grows black mould and they worry how the spores are affecting their families health, where people can't close their doors or windows and it's impossible to warm homes and people feel powerless as they endless trail between EQC and insurance companies, saving a destroyed Cathedral will remain off my radar.
