Bless...

Yesterday we forgot to tell our 16 year old that we were going out for our dinner. He was out somewhere or other and so we left him a fiver for chip van and went out. We called him a wee bit later to get a lot of abuse which went along the lines of "THERE IS NO FOOD IN THE HOUSE. THE CHIP VAN HAS GONE" (he was most certainly talking in capital letters) then putting the phone down on us when we were in the middle of   suggesting a simple macaroni cheese and did he remember where we had put the cookery books we had so thoughtfully bought him? "IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE HERE TO FEED ME THEN THERE IS NO CONVERSATION TO BE HAD."  We came home to half a pan of burnt baked beans floating in water and debris.

Fair enough. lovely boy.

We are not neglectful (or indeed vengeful) parents so we have provided him with an emergency box of supplies should they be needed.

We're going out tonight as well.

In fact we may be going out for our dinner until he is 25 and remembers his manners.
