stocking up

Usually I don't keep much wine in the house and just stock up when I'm expecting company.

Next Saturday I'm hosting a fundraising dinner for the 500 Miles charity.

Over 400 such dinners will take place at more or less the same time. I provide dinner for 5 and they pay £25 each for it, with all the money going to the charity.

I'm lucky to have found an excellent wine shop in Markinch recently, and stocking up is a pleasure. A bottle of sparklng wine from Australia, red from Sicily and white from the north of Italy. I also sneaked in a bottle of white from the Spanish Basque country - unusual to see that, so it may be gone before next weekend.

The guests will be getting meze, then a choice of 3 Thai dishes and Scottish cheeses at the end.
