Apples

The Dunscore Big Brew was held today - an important event in our Fairtrade Village calendar. 12 stalls selling both Fairtrade and local goods,  such as this cider,  which is made less than 2 miles from our house. Last autumn,  the cider-maker,  Max Nowell, took some of our excess apples and in return,  gave us a big box of cider. The labels on the bottles were designed by a local illustrator,  Clare Melinsky. Three types of cider are called after birds - bullfinch, siskin and nuthatch. The apples were on a mat made from the dried pressings - peel, pips etc, most of which gets fed to cows or pheasants.
I'm happy that our apples went to such a good home.
