Basler Fasnacht - Children's parade

Children and families are the centre of the parades today. I enjoyed wandering around Basel listening to the Guggemusik bands (brass bands really) and getting freebies from the floats such as oranges and flowers.

I did not enjoy so much being attacked by Wäggis, those with the masks with big noses, who stuffed copious amounts of confetti down by back and in my hat. The sweets they gave as a reward for being a good sport hardly made up for the time I spent de-confettifying myself later.

In the evening I enjoyed some swiss food with my parents and we went to hear the Guggemusik bands perform in Barfüsserplatz.
