View from the lounge, Inn on the Lake
Our last day in the Lakes so it was a matter of breakfast, packing, a last look round to enjoy the hotel and its setting before the long haul back to Kent.
We decided to go north to Penrith, mainly for fuel and were expecting to pick up the M6 south for home. The sat nav had different ideas, suggesting we went over the A66 then down the A1/A1(M) which we decided might be a better option so we went that way instead.
It was, thankfully, another trouble free journey, we arrived home 7 hours later without incident and within 45 minutes were unloaded, unpacked and cleared away, having a cup of tea, watching England come second best against Ireland in the rugby international.
What a great week, weather was reasonable kind for the end of February, yes we had some rain and blustery showers but we got out walking every day. The accommodation in Windermere was superb and the two nights extra at the Inn on the Lake were well worth it. Looking forward to the next visit. May be the end of April?
