Steps
Now todays blip has little photographic merit, although I did enjoy playing with it a little. But it does serve to tell a story.
As some will know I love the Lake District and have gone back up there whenever I get the chance.
I went up last in December, and had a great time, walking and kayaking until I took a bit of a tumble up on one of the fells. Hurting my ribs. Feeling a little sorry for myself, I cut my trip short after a few days of resting and came home.
But it did give me another taste for the higher longer walks and when I checked out availability on one of Johns Gravetts active walking holidays I thought thats the answer, go with a great guide and get to know the fells with a group rather than by myself.
Now, with my deposit paid, the challenge begins. Getting fit enough, whilst living and working a fairly sedentary life to go hiking up on the fells.
My aid for this is the Jawbone, one of the step tracking fitness bands. During the working week and when I'm able to walk to work the stats are impressive with around 20,000 steps achievable. However there is like most things a counter balance. Mine is called the weekend. And I'm sorry to report that my stats are nowhere near that good. At the moment.
I have two more months to get fit enough. Fingers crossed.
