Carrefour

We shopped for groceries today at Carrefour, a French chain store that operates in Beijing, where Jordan and Sandy often shop. It seemed that one could buy just about anything on one of the three floors. I found a pretty teacup that I brought back to Canada.

The red in the store was striking. Some of the display cases were red, a lot of the packed merchandise was red, and some of the light fixtures were red. As well, lanterns were hung throughout the store to celebrate the Chinese New Year. 

Although the store was distinctly Chinese (where else will you find chicken feet in the meat aisle?), the bakery section included an extensive assortment of French pastries and of course there were baguettes.
