Space!

The Minx and I are both fans of a band called Public Service Broadcasting, who recently released their second album, 'The Race For Space'. We'd already said that we'd go and see them on tour but then we found out that the band was launching the album at the National Space Centre in Leicester, which was irresistible. And so we bought tickets.

Neither of us had been to Leicester before and, to be honest, I wasn't particularly interested in visiting now, except for the fact that that was where the gig was taking place. But as our hotel was in town so we decided we'd have a mooch about and get a drink before catching a taxi out to the National Space Centre.

Characteristically, the Minx had done a bit of research and found us a place called The Exchange to go and have a drink. Following her directions, we walked 'round to the bar from our hotel and, actually, Leicester seemed rather nice. And then, as we turned the corner to The Exchange, we found it looked a bit like the Flatiron building in New York.

Inside it was lovely: well laid out and very comfortable. (Here we are, enjoying its comforts.) We were also taken by their invitation for people to come and eat their own lunch there (on condition they buy a coffee), which seemed pretty cool and forward looking.

Once we'd had a drink, we grabbed a quick bite to eat and then took our taxi to the National Space Centre, which looked - according to the Minx - like a 'witchity grub' (or something). Inside it was excellent, with loads of interesting stuff to look at, which we did once we'd grabbed a drink at the bar. The gig itself was excellent and you can read our reviews here.
