No Trespassing!
Last night, Alan said he saw a line of sheep walking down the hill in our field while I was out, but when he picked me up, we looked for them and couldn't see them so assumed they'd found their way back onto the Tye where they graze. But when I got up this morning and looked out of the window the field was full of them!
It was lovely to see them, but it was also a little worrying as there's a pedestrian right of way through the field, which has an open access to the road. This isn't normally a problem as they only grow crops in the field, and there's a gate leading to the Tye where the sheep are, so I assumed that someone must have left the gate open. Anyway, I managed to find the phone number for the farmer and called him to let him know.
Then this afternoon, I had to nip home in my lunch hour to let the boys out, and I noticed that there was still a group of sheep at the top of the field near the gate. As I watched, it was obvious that the gate wasn't shut and was blowing in the wind. Most of the sheep were on the other side of the gate but some jumped through the gap when as it blew open.
I had to get back to work, otherwise I'd have gone into the field to see what problem was, so I called the local town council to let the know, as some of the flock belong to them. They said they knew about the problem and someone was on their way to fix the gate, and when I got home tonight the sheep had gone, so fingers crossed they're all safe!
