Journey Through Time

I don't care what you say, the first full week of March in the Pacific Northwest shouldn't have this kind of weather.  Not that we are complaining, mind you.  It's a wonderful break from our usual drippy weather.  But we will pay for this, eventually.  The news talked about our early spring and some of the problems that goes along with that.  Some agricultural plants are growing and getting buds a month too soon.  This can cause problems with disease and the growers will have to be on top of that situation.  Our mild weather also is causing certain trees to send out pollen and a lot of people are already feeling the effects of the dreaded allergy season.  Mosquitoes will be a problem, too.  Our snow pack is way below normal, so drought will be a concern.  Which, of course, contributes to dry conditions that fuel the forest fires.  But, there isn't a darn thing we can do about it, so everyone here is just enjoying the sunshine and figuring that next winter, Mother Nature will even things out and this side of the country might be hip deep in snow.  You never know.

Today I took auntie on errands.  It always takes a lot of time and I was gone most of the day.  But she so enjoys getting out and about and looking in Pier 1, Target, Fred Meyer, etc...  She does miss having her car, but also says she doesn't want to drive in all the traffic anymore.  It's hard to depend on someone else to get you out and about.  Once, my aunt and I lived very close to one another but one thing led to another, and Bill and I ended up in Vancouver.  It certainly would have been more convenient if we'd stayed closer to her, but we do like it in Vancouver, so I really don't want to live where we lived before.  For one thing, we are mostly out of the "Gorge effect East Wind" that comes whipping through our old neighborhood.  It would be nice if Auntie lived over here near us, but that probably won't happen as she has a nice apartment that she loves decorating, and her rent is very, very low.  She'd NEVER find anything like that here.  She's lived there for 50 years.  That was never her plan, but that's how it worked out.

Well, enough of that.  I hope you are on the sunny side of the street, kids.  See ya.
