Not a red squirrel

During our walk today I spotted a red squirrel. The first time I have seen a squirrel in this country that was not already transformed to roadkill.

Unfortunately it was frightened by our number and how fast we were approaching so it ran across the road and hid in the bushes.

All this before I could get my camera.
So here is a picture of my bag instead.
