The Nook

I pass a building called "The Nook" in Abersychan almost every day, and this morning when the sun was shining on its sign I thought it made a colourful blip.

The Nook was a Pupil Referral Unit opened roughly about 11 years ago by Prince Edward.   I was the Mayoral Support Officer in Torfaen at that time and had arranged the royal visit with the Lord Lieutenant and the Mayor.  The pupils were delighted to meet the Prince and I remember there was only a small crowd of about 100 people waiting to cheer him on his arrival.  It was a weekday so I suppose most people were in work, but being the kind man that he is, HRH shook hands with everyone there.  It made their day!
