Distant Spitfire
Another bridge blip, but with a unique difference.
There was a Spitfire flypast today as part of the Forth Bridge 125 year anniversary.
Celebrations were themed around a Luftwaffe Forth Bridge Raid which happened a few months before the 50th anniversary on October 16 1939, just weeks into the start of the Second World War.
On that occasion, the Germans were out to attack the naval base at nearby Rosyth, but the dogfight took part over the bridge.
This had some personal significance for me, as my Mum actually witnessed the original dogfight (she told the story often) and I took this blip from the naval construction yard at Rosyth where I work.
