........what a day.............
55 minutes to drive 3 1/2 miles to work this morning!
50 minutes for the return journey this evening!
As for the bit in between.....you don't want to know.....the worst day in a long time.......apart for the few minutes spent with hebs.
So......here's what I should have blipped yesterday.
Did you know that NASA was 100 years old yesterday..........yes I know....trendy, state of the art, space age NASA...........100!!!!
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration began as the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics....or NACA,.....on March 3rd 1915.
Their original work was on aeronautics and developing such items as engine cowlings, retractable landing gear and eventually jet engine compressors. The budget was tiny and there were no paid employees, but growth was rapid.
In October 1958 the by now 7500 paid employees and $300 000 000 budget and facilities transitioned into NASA.
In 1955 NASA's most famous employee joined the staff as an aeronautical research scientist.........later qualifying as a pilot........progressing to test pilot........and in 1962 he became an astronaut.............................and on July 20th 1969 he became the first person to set foot upon the Moon.............Neil Alden Armstrong.
In another space related diversion I saw today one of the funniest newspaper headlines ever................"Bank of Canada urges Star Trek fans to stop "Spocking" fivers".....apparently the portrait on the notes can, with a few strokes of a pen, be turned into a realistic Leonard Nimoy as Spock.............well it's a better headline than most of the crap I've seen today.
Das vidanya moy padruga.
