Marlborough (Saturday 28th February 2015)

Saturday was a grey, dismal day. I took one photo on my iPad when I checked in on Facebook in the afternoon, and this is it. On the way home I saw a kestrel hovering perfectly still above the road in the wind and rain, a great example of the bird's mastery of the air.

Brian Jones was born on this day in 1942, in Cheltenham. He was responsible for the beautiful acoustic slide guitar on this song from Beggars Banquet, first released on the B-side of Street Fighting Man. Mick Jagger said in a 1995 interview, "That's Brian playing [the slide guitar]. We were sitting around in a circle on the floor, singing and playing, recording with open mikes. That was the last time I remember Brian really being totally involved in something that was really worth doing".
