Rock pool at Dornoch

This is one of the pools that I snapped on the beach at Dornoch. It was full of life. Tiny barnacles and mussels but the algae reminded me how much of my intertidal ecology I had forgotten. I think I saw sea lettuce Ulva lactuca,the one the Welsh eat as lava bread,but I wouldn't have been confident to eat it. I need to persuade one of marine scientists to give me a refresher course.
