St Magnus Cathedral
Spent the morning working in Kirkwall, most of it outside in the bright but chilly sunshine.
By lunchtime my fingers were frozen and I decided something hot to eat in a warm place would be a good idea, so I headed for the cafe at the community centre. 45 minutes later I felt much warmer and emerged from the cafe to the sight of the cathedral looking stunning as it loomed over the Kirk Green, rich red and yellow sandstone against the bright blue sky.
Always amazes me that it's quite easy to walk past the cathedral on a daily basis and not take that much notice of it, then other times it jumps up and hits you between the eyes with it's mediaeval magnificence.
