Calmness restored....
Well I'm so thrilled to say that the fires are under control. There are still some flare ups across the pennisula but the helicopters have been able to keep them from spreading. Its been devastating to our little town but so heartening to see how the community have all pulled together and helped one another. We raised over two million rand in a matter of three hours on our local radio station . These funds will be used to buy much needed fire fighting equipment. Im so happy to see my troop of baboons are safe. Sadly there are not many surviving tortoises, snakes and little critters...so so sad. And there are families who have lost their homes...so tragic. It got me thinking as to what would one take if you had to leave in a hurry? It made me think about all the refuges in the world.
This afternoon i met two friends in the beautiful gardens of the Vineyard hotel for tea.
A huge thank you to all of you for all your lovely thoughts and prayers,i truly believe that it all helps. This is a very special community......
