The accidental finding

The Ramyryge Angels

I didn't have much time for photos today, as I was accompanying students on a trip to Gloucester Cathedral and the Quays shopping development, as the school premises were closed for emergency repairs to the electricity supply. We were five TAs, three students, two wheelchairs, and one minibus. It was an education on how hard it is to find a parking space reserved for disabled people, and to unload wheeelchairs off a tail-lift, in the city centre.
Still, we all had a good day out and felt as if we were on holiday. Gloucester cathedral was as lovely as ever, though the city was bitterly cold.

These beautiful perspex sculptures by Claudia Brown are known as the Ramryge Angels, and illuminate the stages of bereavement as defined by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance; followed by a stage added by the artist: peace. I didn't have time to look at them closely, so will have to go back some time soon. They are on tour and will be flying out of Gloucester later this month. This hasty snap illuminates the first stage of bereavement: denial. http://www.claudiabrown.co.uk/index_files/RamrygeAngels.htm
Returning won't be a problem: I have spotted a cafe near the cathedral that looks lovely, and there's another nearby bookshop that I never tire of.

Night, night, world...
