After the Storm
A snowfall can take on a variety of characteristics. Sometimes it is very light, and it drifts and blows off the trees immediately. Other times, it can be very wet, weighing down branches and making it very difficult to shovel. Sometimes it melts quickly and the magic of the snow is lost before there is a chance to admire it. And sometimes it is just perfect.
I jumped out of bed this morning and ran to the window to have a look at what I suspected was going to be a winter wonderland and I was not disappointed. I threw on my clothes, bundled up, grabbed my camera and headed to the park. The 14 degree F (-12 C) temperature was biting, and my shutter button and focus button fingers quickly became numb and painful. There was the beautiful hush and quiet that follows a snowfall and I could hear nothing but the crunch of my boots on the snow. The sun was just beginning to rise over the trees and house tops, and cast some beautiful light along my path. It was a sensory feast.
For all my grumbling yesterday, I must admit, it doesn’t get much prettier than this.
