Geronimo!
Or at least that is what I think I heard... What you see here is a Tricolor Heron, one of our smallest herons, doing it's crazy-fish-dance across the water. They fish rather like the Reddish Egrets in that they tend to burst into spurts of running and hopping across the water as a way to flush the fish. It is very entertaining to watch and also fun to photograph - but you need have a camera that fires at least 5 fps to capture the action. Luckily, the D760 fires at 6 fps!
I had to push the ISO on the D750 today as the light conditions were poor - heavy overcast and periods of drizzle. This shot, was taken at ISO 1600 and even fully zoomed and cropped (necessary because I was pretty far away) it holds up pretty well. Not competition caliber because the focus isn't as crisp as it could be - but well enough for my daily "moment".
My other ten picks for today posted starting HERE on Flickr
Tomorrow morning Hubs and I are meeting fellow-blipper Sefferdog and Mrs 'dog at Homasassa. Going to spend the morning shooting (I'm bringing both the D750 and the D600) and then lunch at a place that supposedly serves fantastic shrimp and fish! Promises to be a very fun day. And I plan to take LOTS of photos!
Thanks for you comments, stars and hearts on yesterday's love-gulls. For me, it was nice to see them doing something other than trying to steal food from pelicans, cormorants, and beach-goers! They are crafty things - always entertaining to watch, and sometimes quite endearing as seen yesterday. I am never bored when I spend a little time observing gulls of any type.
25 days until we hit the road north...
Toodles,
Debbi
