The seed dresser....

Busy again.Got everything fed ,then the mobile seed dresser arrived  to treat the home saved seed oats and barley. We try to keep our own seed most years, and sometimes buy some new seed too. The grain from the trailer goes up an auger, then gravitates down over sets of moving sieves to take out under sized grains or chaff and then it is treated with chemicals to prevent seed bourne diseases. It is then weighed into the tote bags. They hold 500 Kg and are just like giant carrier bags.In days gone by we used paper sacks which held 50kg and needed stitched along the top then hand built onto pallets. By the time you had done 15 or 20 tons ,you knew all about it.
All we need now is for spring to arrive and some dry weather to get it into the ground !
