It took some figuring, because as hard as I tried, I couldn't get him/her any lighter.  There was one technique I threw at it which outlined a lighter underbelly and forehead that led me to believe this was a female Verdin.

I should have known because they are really the only other birds to feed there, however, it appeared to be too large for a Verdin.  So,...dum dum dum...perhaps, the mystery shall never really be solved for sure...
