Bubble

Even the non-football fans amongst you will be aware of the derby matches between the likes of Liverpool and Everton and Manchester City and Manchester United. However you will probably be unaware of the Chester v Wrexham derby match which may be played in front of a smaller crowd but it just as intense. What makes this rivalry unique is that the clubs are also separated by the England Wales border so this league match is always keenly fought.

Unfortunately a series of incidents between hooligans of both clubs means that for the last two years this game has been designated a bubble match. The only way you can attend this game is by travelling on special coaches to the opponents ground.

Therefore, at 11am this morning, I was amongst more than 1000 Chester fans (it was sold out) boarding 24 coaches to travel the 13 miles down the A483 to Wrexham.

I have to say it does feel rather exciting travelling in such a large convoy with a large police escort, a helicopter flying overhead and outriders blocking off all the junctions. Having said that its not much fun travelling back under the same circumstances after losing 1-0 in a poor game.

This was taken through a coach window, with my iPhone while travelling at speed hence the lack of complete clarity.
