A Death mask of Burke and a Life mask of Hare

These masks were found in 2009, and are currently on display at the Edinburgh National Portrait Gallery. 

I had a strange fascination with these two murders. Probably since I worked at the Court of Session in Edinburgh and saw the actual trial scrips from their murder trial.  

Being moulded from the actual faces of the infamous Burke and Hare. Quite macabre...
