A Ropey Saturday.
We had a day out in the Yorkshire Dales with our visitors Grace and John. It was a postponed trip to Hawes from Christmas when John was too ill to go.
It was a lovely trip through Wharfedale and Langstrothdale over to Wensleydale but unfortunately it got cloudier as we got further north. When we left the car in Hawes it was pretty cold so we went straight into a pub with a glowing open fire for lunch.
The main purpose of the visit was to go to the Ropemakers shop as G&J want to replace their rope banister. We couldn't believe it when it was shut! Not open on weekends!
Never mind. We continued over the Buttertubs to Swaledale and returned via Leyburn, stopping for a cream tea, before coming home.
Lovely to spend the day with them any way; I can feel another Hawes trip coming on in the near future!
What are they looking at here in the middle of Hawes?
Gayle Beck as it rages through the town.
PS this is my 1800th blip!
