Early St David's Day

It was the Isle of Wight Welsh Society's St David's Day lunch today and this was the event around which Mum and I had worked our week's holiday on the Island.

My mother's a lifetime member of the Isle of Wight Welsh Society. (She's Scottish but married a Welshman.) Every year since they moved to Wales, Mum & Dad made the trip back to the Isle of Wight for this lunch and Mum's carried on doing this even after Dad died.

I get a kick out of the fact that a Scot leaves her home in Wales to go to England to celebrate a Welsh Saint's Day with other Welsh ex-pats living on the Island.
