Hovering Chaffinch

I went to RSPB Fairburn Ings for the morning with Mum and Dad before going to see Gran in the afternoon for her Birthday.

We had a lovely walk around the reserve, we didn't see the Kingfisher this time, but as we started to look through the screen we saw a Weasel swim across the stream and then scurry off up the bank into the undergrowth.

We heard and saw a Greater Spotted Woodpecker, and we also heard but didn't see some Bearded Tits in the reed beds. Around the feeding stations there were a lot of Bullfinches and Reed Buntings. There were also some Chaffinches which were trying to imitate humming birds by hovering before making their final approach to the feeders. This is one which I have managed to catch in mid hover.

I hope you are having a good weekend
