International Women's Day

 
International Women’s Day – so I set out to look for some positive images of women and I came across Ann Harding, a retired teacher in our local falconry centre .”This is how I get my thrills these days.”
 
She is holding Keri a young buzzard hawk. He is much in demand for photo opportunities because of the way he opens his wings as soon as he is held.

 
There seems to be an upsurge of interest among women in falconry after Helen Macdonald's book  "H is for Hawk" won the Samuel Johnson prize for non-fiction in 2014.  This is a truly amazing book.
