Blinc - Adelaide Festival
This picture is part of an installation for the Adelaide Festival of Arts this year which is lighting up the city. Blinc lights up Elder Park and its surrounds with everything from faces being projected into trees, a three dimensional elephant, and a piece that transforms voice into art.
This is one of the many projections onto the Festival Centre, that writhes and moves with sound. There is everything from a beehive with bees being projected to polka dots, and the picture that you see here, the transformation is amazing. Other buildings around the area also come alive with projections.
In the same area you can find a part of the Adelaide Fringe called Surrender, which is its very own Micro nation. We didn't actually go in, but the view from outside and the noise was amazing.
Before and after seeing the Blinc displays we went for a wander through Rundle Street where there was some street theatre going on. There was one guy that we stood and watched paint an amazing view of Adelaide Oval straight from a photo on his phone, all with a few cans of spray paint.
We saw a couple of amazing street theatre acts, including a knife throwing Brit up a ladder, who took off his Kilt and had polka dot underwear on. We also saw the Fringe Sirens, who are over four metres tall, with thousands of lights on their skirts and a French Canadian/Swiss duo that juggled flaming batons, while one of them was standing on a moving bicycle.
What a brilliant atmosphere this city has at this time of year. It really is second to none, and I urge everyone to go and check it out. We did it without spending any money, got plenty of exercise wandering around the city and had an awesome night!
